July 12, 2025
No, it’s not Christmas in July, but it is time to start taking about our annual Holiday Trip to American Music Theater and lunch at the Fulton Steamboat. I know it may seem early, but we wanted to give as much time as possible and offer various payment options.
This year’s show is “Deck the Halls” - Check in at the decked-out St. Nicholas Hotel where we find our dashing dancers and merry musicians ready to “Deck the Halls!” Bubby Bubbly bellhops and glittery guests make merriment in preparation for a visit from Old Saint Nick. This musical holiday adventure brings together old and new friends to celebrate the season with awe-inspiring performances designed to capture the hearts of the entire family.
Lunch includes salad, rolls & butter, Lancaster County Pot Roast, Lancaster County Baked Ham, Mashed Potatoes, Seasonal Vegetable, Apple or Cherry Pie, Coffee, Tea and Iced Tea.
The cost is $135/person and includes transportation, show, lunch, and all gratuities.
Please see the flyer on the Trips Page for more information.

Personal Note:
As I am sure most of you have heard by now, I will no longer be heading up the Social Committee or organizing Social Events. The “Sail Into Summer Party” will be my last Social Event. I have been at it for a long time and have enjoyed it very much, but it’s time to pass the torch. The Social Committee and I have worked very hard to make every event special and I hope you feel we succeeded. Thank you to all those who have attended events and who have supported me. It was appreciated and it has truly been my pleasure.
I will still be working with the Trips Committee organizing trips and may still organize some special events down the road, i.e. WM Lounge, Music Bingo; Karaoke, and Comedy Club, etc., so watch your email.
Wishing you God’s blessings,
Bob Veglucci

Check it out – Walnut Meadows now has a Facebook Page, “Walnut Meadows Neighbors”.
Donna Gallone has set-up and will administer a Private Group on Facebook for residents of Walnut Meadows. Once you join you can post personal pictures, comments etc. This group is not set up to be a gripe session, if you have an issue with a neighbor, the Board, or management deal with it privately.
These are the rules for this group:
Be Kind and courteous
No hate speech or bullying
Respect everyone’s privacy
No promotions or spam
No politics
Your Attention: When I started sending emails to the community, I set certain guidelines, not the least of which was to keep the emails to a minimum and to advertise upcoming trips and activities, emergency announcements and certain requests made by the Board. Please do not copy and paste the emails and use them to send out your personal emails regardless of the subject.
Have a Blessed day,

An open letter from the Social & Trips Committees
I apologize in advance for this lengthy letter, but I ask you to please read it to its end.
As many of you may already realize from previous emails and reports given at Association Meetings the Walnut Meadows Social Committee and Trips Committee are struggling to meet the minimum number of people needed for catering and bus minimum requirements. The Social Committee met last night and discussed this at length. We realize that times are difficult right now and people are struggling to make ends meet. We are with you! We know that the cost of food, utilities, gasoline, and the increase in rent and the surprise new Trash Collection Charge has left us all with less disposable money for the extra things like events and trips. Us included. We are asking you to bear with us as we rethink events and make some changes going forward.
Social Activities:
The Social Committee currently plans one large event each month. These events range in cost from $18 - $25. Going forward we will be reducing the number of these events and attempt to replace them with smaller events that don’t include food to keep the costs down. These events will be events where you bring your own food and drink. We are looking at events such as Karaoke, Music Bingo, Movie Nights, Comedy Nights, The Walnut Meadows Lounge, and Trivia. We should be able to run these events for $10 and less. Once again as we attempt these changes if there is no or low turnout, they will reviewed and determination will be made to continue them, but it’s worth a try and the effort. The goal of the Social Committee is to give opportunities for people to come together in a fun, friendly atmosphere.
St. Patrick’s Day – See updated menu on Upcoming Activities Page - At the present time we have 28 people signed up for this event, (in 2024 we had 80 people join us). We need 40 minimum for the caterer. When we set our yearly calendar in January, we did not realize that this event would fall on a Friday Night during Lent, and we apologize. It was an oversight on our part. That said we barely made the minimum number for our last event, Evening in Paris. If we don’t meet the minimum by March 09th, the cut-off date, we will have to cancel this event. I will send an email on March 10th to let you know whether it is a go or not.
Night at the Races – scheduled for April 12th is being postponed and will be rescheduled. Watch your email for a new date.
Trips:
In 2024 we organized five trips, canceled one due to not making the minimum needed, and barely squeaked by with another. For 2025 we planned four trips and are on the verge of cancelling the first one. Next year we will be looking at two or three. When we have to cancel a trip the vendor now suddenly has 50 open seats that they may or not be able to sell due to short notice. The bus drivers get paid by the trip. If they are not assigned another trip, they lose the day’s pay. We worked hard to build relationships with these companies and each time we cancel that relationship takes a hit.
Swing – We have opened this trip to our sister communities at Hidden Springs and Creekwood, and for the first time to Encore in Harleysville. To date we have nineteen people signed-up. Sixteen for Walnut Meadows, two form Encore, and one from Creekwood. We need thirty minimum by March 14th when we must make final payment to the vendor. I will send an email shortly after this date to let you know if this trip is a go or not.
The Social Committee and the Trips Committee work very and will continue to offer as many things as possible for your enjoyment.
Thank you for listening and your understanding.
Have a Blessed day,
Bob Veglucci

Did you Know? The furnishings in the clubhouse belong to the Walnut Meadows Community Association, (WMCA). This includes tables, chairs, folding chairs etc. These items are available for members to borrow for short periods of time, (1-3 days) provided there are no Association Events going on during that time. There is a sign-out sheet in the library that needs to be completed before items are removed.
Non-members of WMCA may not borrow any equipment or remove any items from the clubhouse under any circumstances. This privilege is a perk of membership. This is not a new rule, however, going forward it will be strictly enforced.
Thank you! Thank you to all those who renewed their WMCA Membership or have joined for the first time. We encourage the rest of you to renew or join ASAP to support your community.

Please use the envelopes in the library and drop them in the Social Activities Box. Payments can also be dropped off to Barbara Scarpill, 61 Wood Hollow Dr. Need more information call Barbara @ 215-368-2179.
A personal note: What made you decide to move to Walnut Meadows. Was it because it is a beautiful, safe and well-kept neighborhood. Was it because of its great location. Was it because I live here, LOL just kidding. I truly hope it was because we are an active community, with lots going on and lots to do. Your dues go to provide some and supplement other activities here at Walnut Meadows. We are not a Homeowners Association otherwise these dues would be mandatory and would be several hundred and more likely thousands of dollars a year. We are asking every resident to please voluntarily join WMCA and pay your dues. You may not be ready to get involved in the activities now going on, but without your support now, there may not be anything going on when you are ready.
Thanks for listening,
Bob Veglucci
